Expanding My Portfolio and Attempting to Keep My Sanity

What you are about to see is a tiny peek into my mind or, more specifically, my Happy Place. These are some of the creatures you might come across, the places you might travel, and the things you might feel as you go through my mind.

Statement

In times of great stress, you need an escape, some way to surround yourself with positivity. I do so by directing my nervous energy into something productive like a painting or a felted friend. I started these projects to finish off my portfolio for art school but they have become a sort of therapy for me. When reality feels too heavy, I turn on some music, get out some paper or a canvas, and make whatever my heart desires. In this way, I can say and express things that may feel too frightening.

Bio

Kate T is a young artist from Nassawadox, Virginia, and is currently a senior at Renaissance School. In an oftentimes troubling world, she tries to focus her art on the innocence and beauty of nature. Kate’s favorite mediums include watercolors, acrylics, pastels, and, more recently, roving wool for needle felting. Besides nature, some of her inspirations include everyday items like the dragonfly-shaped cord protector she found behind her bed. The odd, little things in life that make her smile are what she aims to show in her work.
