Welcome to a small glimpse into my world of creativity, chaos, passion, frustration, and hope.

BIO
Abbey E is an artist based in Charlottesville Virginia. As a musical artist, by the name of Acelia, she has her own genre-bending style with indie, folk, pop, americana, and alternative influences. Her music is all-encompassing, ever-evolving, and it is how she expresses every thought and feeling. Her visual art is similar to her music in this way, tying in art history and a variety of different influences to create pieces of art that make one think about the human experience. Social and political commentary is a common theme in her songs and artistic endeavors, and she believes firmly that art of all kinds has the power to create substantial change in the world and in the lives of individuals.
STATEMENT
Since I was a young child I have been obsessed with eyes, with the human experience, with the many complex sides that one person can have, and with the idea of reality versus fantasy. This year I did a wide scope of things, both in thematic content and process in order to upkeep a spirit of exploration. I found mugshots of women and created different adaptations of them, first drawing a classically rendered pencil portrait, and then the same woman again in three different styles. This project explored varying artistic and cultural styles and their impact on the viewer. I also had a lot of fun with photography in the first half of this year, meeting strangers and asking them about their story and life advice. Towards the end of the year I started creating illustrations for a children’s book called “Taking Baths and Building Towers” about what really matters in life. I also spent time this year making my childhood bedroom super dope for when it becomes a historical house museum people can visit when I’m an old dead famous person.
