Getting bored of seeing all the stunning selfies on Instagram? The carefully fabricated fragments of people’s lives get exhausting after a while, right? What’s really going on inside their minds? This collection of art is a glimpse into my mind. From painted jellyfish to photographs of my face these pieces are echoes of my thoughts, emotions, and the way that I perceive myself. Once and a while wouldn’t it be nice to see the real, raw, versions of people? Their thoughts they have to battle? I’m not perfect. No one is. What if it’s our imperfections that are the most attractive? Here is my fight against fake.

and words that inspired them

“Does such a thing as ‘the fatal flaw,’ that showy dark crack running down the middle of a life, exist outside literature? I used to think it didn’t. Now I think it does. And I think that mine is this: a morbid longing for the picturesque at all costs.” – Donna Tartt
“Imagining the future is a kind of nostalgia. You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you’ll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.”- John Green
“Is there no way out of the mind?” – Sylvia Plath
“I will never let anyone see my full heart and destroy it.” – Elizabeth Acevedo
“At times the world may seem an unfriendly and sinister place, but believe that there is much more good in it than bad. All you have to do is look hard enough. and what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may in fact be the first steps of a journey.” – Lemony Snicket

JELLYFISH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Zoë Katherine S is a photographer, poet, and lover of all things creative. Her creative works have been published in magazines, newspapers, and literary journals. Zoë is inspired by artwork that tries to answer questions of identity and self. She thinks surface-level stuff is boring. Perception inspires her: people’s perception of the world, of her. But also her perception of the world and of herself. Zoë’s artwork is often a reflection of the chaos going on inside and outside of her. She uses art as an outlet to answer any questions she has. It’s an attempt to try to get that chaos out and maybe, make order out of it.
