Artist Statement:
In this era of superhero comics, there always seems to be multiple interpretations of their universes. With the Marvel universe, many of these interpretations are united by Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, but what about DC? DC has many interpretations of characters from the comics to different films under different directors to TV shows to video games to figures. The superheroes tend to be fairly consistent throughout these mediums, but what about the other side of the coin: the villains? There are far more villains than heroes, making it a dark universe. My project is to unite the villains of DC’s most famous hero, Batman, into a single art style. I pulled from what I considered the best versions of these villains which show off their personalities and their tactics, and then adapted them with a mix of pencil tracing and digital painting.
