Artist Statement

Throughout my childhood, I played a game called Talisman Second Edition. It’s a game where the goal is simply to reach the center of the board, but it’s very non-linear, so you get different outcomes each time you play. My family and I played it a lot. With how many expansions the game has, I wanted to make one of my own someday. That’s why I decided to take this project. I turned to the DC universe for inspiration and would just end up copying them in the end. I have a lot of nostalgia for the DC Universe’s characters. I would remake all of the iconic locations and characters by tracing images and using Fire Alpaca to fill in the color. This is a way I could give them my own style and be faithful to the property. I eventually got tired of the gameboard concept because I don’t want to just draw streets, so these will just be standalone art pieces. I’m far from done, however. I only made 1 character, so next year, I will make the rest of them.
