2026 Portfolio
My name is Annabel Anuszewski (anna-shes-key) and my artwork focuses on stills in nature. I work in watercolor because it gives a motion that acrylic, or other materials, can’t really capture. Through watercolor, I have found that it is forgiving and deeper than many people realize, and it is my favorite medium to work with.
This body of work is representative of my admiration for nature. Often, talking about the current climates is a scary thing that is obscured beyond recognition. By going out in nature or painting scenes of landscapes, I believe that it is easier to understand why one would want to preserve it.
I came to my most recent series after multiple classes spent trying to plan an intricate painting, full of twists or a story that would have to be dissected. This strategy did not work. After sketch after sketch, I realized that what I needed was to just paint.
