how high can your expectations be?
they soar, but always fall
but i still can’t meet them
as they plummet back to the ground
they sink into the mud,
and descend so deep
i can no longer reach them
when i plant my feet on the ground
i can feel them radiate beneath me
will they ever grow again?
when will they pierce the earth above them to meet the sun?
